V-Ray Render Nodes support network and distributed rendering with the following applications:
- V-Ray for 3ds Max
- V-Ray f. Maya
- V-Ray for SketchUp
- V-Ray f. Rhino
- V-Ray for Cinema4D
- V-Ray for Revit
- V-Ray f. Houdini
- V-Ray f. Nuke
-
V-Ray f. Unreal
Version 6 is currently only compatible with 3ds max
Backwards compatibility
V-Ray 6 render nodes are backwards compatible with V-Ray 3, Next and 5 versions, but not vice versa. For example, V-Ray 3 for 3ds Max can be operated with version 5 RN, but a V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max cannot work with a Next RN.
RenderNode Packs with predefined number
By switching to the RN packs, Chaos Group simultaneously reduces the prices, e.g. for perpetual RN packs between 6% (pack of 5) and 42% (pack of 100).
If you need a "crooked" number of render nodes, e.g. 16, you will need to buy a 10-pack, a 5-pack and a single RN (10+5+1=16).
Future upgrade policy for V-Ray 5 RN packs
In future, RN packs can only be upgraded as a whole. For example, if you have a 20-pack, you will only be able to upgrade all 20 licenses and not just 10 of them.
If you first buy a 5-pack, then a 10-pack and then another 5-pack and later want to upgrade these 20 RNs, this is only possible by buying 2x 5 RN and 1x 10 RN upgrade packs. These 20 licenses, which are the result of 3 purchases, can therefore not be upgraded with a 20-pack.
