Ingest servers, including the Metus Ingest, are used today to receive AV data from various sources and typically store it in a standardized format on storage systems. What exactly this "standardized format" is, customers usually decide very early on after the company is founded; it is referred to as the house format and usually includes the selected codec, wrapper and other parameters that an encoded file must comply with so that it can be used in the further workflow. Because remember: almost all NLE software today can manage clips with different codecs or even resolutions on a single timeline - but this is almost never effective; the performance of all NLE solutions is still highest when all clips in a project have the same codec.
With Metus Ingest, all elements of the graphical user interface (GUI) are located on a single screen: Neither pop-up menus nor windows hinder the quick selection of functions.
The dongle-protected standard license from Metus Ingest can record one channel at a time or transcode it into several formats simultaneously. How many of these are possible in real time depends solely on the performance of the underlying CPU and/or GPU.
If you want to edit several input channels at the same time, an additional channel must be purchased for each source; this is licensed to the existing dongle. This requires the purchase of the Pro version of Metus Ingest. The same applies to transcoding files (i.e. specifying AV files as the source), which is also only possible with the Pro version.
Experience has shown that most professional customers opt for the Pro version from the outset.
Metus Ingest Professional
Metus Ingest Professional offers multi-format recording, transcoding and streaming with multi-channel/source and multiple profiles. ATTENTION: for the ingest of multiple sources simultaneously you need additional "additional channel" licenses.

Sources
Metus Ingest recognizes four different types as a source for AV data:
AV files of almost any format (see below)
Tapes (via video I/O cards, see below)
Live sources (e.g. TV channels from a DVB-S receiver)
IP stream (e.g. from an IP cam or a web stream)
Supported formats

Video I/O
If you want to "ingest" video signals, a video I/O card is essential; this should come from the following overview:
AJA
Blackmagic Design
Viewcast Osprey
Magewell
Matrox
Deltacast
Almost any card with Directshow drivers
Every standard webcam is supported.
NDI
Version note
When ordering, you will always receive the latest version published by the manufacturer, regardless of any version details in our description. Any deviations will be clearly communicated by us. Please ask us if you are unsure.
Further functions
The additional functions of Metus are so extensive that, in our opinion, it makes the most sense for you as an interested party to provide a brief list here:
SDHD and 4K are supported out of the box, no upgrade necessary.
Multiple hardware/GPU-accelerated H.264 streams simultaneously in the output.
H.264 or MPEG-2 streams can be streamed via UDP or RTP.
With simultaneous recording and streaming, streaming can take place in different formats and qualities.
Support for multi-channel audio (via SDI-embedded or separate audio sources).
Audio channels can be remapped during transcoding.
Timed or manual start of recordings.
Tape machines can be controlled via RS422 and batch lists can be processed with time codes.
RS422-controlled output to tape (print-to-tape).
Time codes in LTC or VITC format can be stamped into the image (burn-in).
Timecode breaks are recognized on request and, if necessary, cause the recording to be aborted or a new recording file to be started.
Closed captioning support (with Deltacast or Blackmagic cards).
Control of SDI routers/switches from Harris/Imagine, Kramer, Blackmagic, Quartz, Jupiter or Snell.
Still images or animated logos can be stamped (overlaid) into output files, as can time information or time codes.
Rule-based splitting of output files without loss of intermediate frames.
Rule-based naming of output files.
Rule-based media management: Move, delete, rename files after recording to this file has been completed.
Supports secure recording to network storage by first recording files locally and then automatically transferring them to the network storage once they have been completed.
Support in conjunction with Metus MAM for edit-while-capture (editing files at an editing suite while they are still being recorded).
Transfer and further processing (e.g. in the assigned file names) of metadata during recording.
User-definable markers (in or out points or even events such as goals or fouls) can be assigned during the recording. These can then trigger actions in the transcoding process.
Customizable GUI with individual preview of each capturing channel.
Each recording channel can be controlled (stopped, started, paused, etc.) individually or in groups (ganging of channels).
Control software for remote control of multiple hosts (see Metus Ingest Remote Control Pack).
Support for watch folders and batch transcoding lists.
Password protection of critical functions possible.
All activities are written to externally analyzable log files.
Runs under Win 10 Pro 64bit
